Rules, Rebellion, and Revolution - Part 1

The weekend of Blondie Lockes arrival, the Ever Afters were hanging out in their dorm-- everyone except Ashlynn, that is.

Raven was reading the Ever After High Student Handbook. She wanted to make sure she had read up on the rules of the school before school actually began.

Blondie and Madi were chatting on the couch.
"So, do you prefer egg salad sandwiches or peanut butter sandwiches at a tea party?" Madi asked Blondie.
"Definitely peanut butter sandwiches. Egg salad gives me an upset stomach," Blondie explained.

Just then, Ashlynn walked through the front door. "Err! There weren't any affordable couches at the store! AND they still haven't restocked on silverware, so we're going to have to continue to go downstairs to the school's community kitchen for our eating utensils," she sighed. "I just wish that I could have at least purchased a couch that is less of an eyesore then this one is!"

"Hold up!" Madi exclaimed. "I happen to like this couch! It's very yellow and very soft. Help me out here, Blondie!"
"Umm... Sorry, Madi, but I'm with Ashlynn on this one," Blondie stated.

"Well, I still like this couch!" Madi said as she plopped down on the yellow couch.
Ashlynn groaned and walked over to the dining room to join Raven. As she crossed her legs just like Blondie's, Madi struck up their conversation again, "Yeah, egg salad isn't always the best thing to serve at tea parties due to the common issue of stomach aches..."

"Hey, Raven. I didn't find a couch or silverware," Ashlynn said, discouraged.

"Oh well. You can check the store again later. But, Ashlynn, there's a big issue. I found it while I was reading through this year's student handbook," Raven said, her face strained with stress and worry.

"What's the problem?" Ashlynn asked.
Raven sighed, "Read the page the book is open to." Then she dropped her head to the table with a groan.

"Oh, Raven, I'm sure it's not that bad," Ashlynn said as she reached for the book. "What did they do, restrict cell phone usage again?"
Raven sat up straight and waited for Ashlynn to read the page.

"Alrighty," Ashlynn said, settling into the seat she had dragged over to Raven.

Raven crossed her arms as Ashlynn began to read. "All students must sign the agreement form stating that their magical powers will be removed while they are at school. Their powers will be restored once the student has left the school campus, but will once again be removed when the student comes back on campus."

Ashlynn looked at Raven with disbelief.

They both stood up from their seats. Ashlynn dropped the student handbook on the tabletop and started to rant, "Why would the school do this to us?!? They can't do this!"
"They can, and they will," Raven said with disgust. "I've been looking into this all day. They're planning on putting a counter-spell on our magical abilities while we're at school. They say they're doing it so that we can't use our abilities to cheat, vandalize, or make other students feel inferior to us. You only get them back when you are in a class that involves honing our abilities or if you leave the campus."
"But that's not right! They can't just make us give up our powers everyday! It's part of who we are, and if they take that away, that's the end of life at school as we know it! And since we live here at school, we basically won't be getting our powers back unless we leave or until we graduate!" Ashlynn sputtered in anger.
Raven shook her head in despair, and Ashlynn started to walk back to the living room to talk to Blondie and Madi about this new rule.

Madi had been talking to Blondie about dance parties. She had then proceeded to show Blondie some of her dance moves. Blondie wasn't very impressed.

"This one is called the Monkey Gangsta!" Madi explained as she executed another dance move.
Blondie covered her eyes with her long blond hair.

"ANNNNNDDDD.... JAZZ HANDS!!!" Madi announced.
Ashlynn walked in and said, "Girls! Did you know that the school is going to make us give up our magical powers while we're on campus??"
Blondie peeped one eye out of her hair and replied, "No! I didn't know that!"

"How can they do that to us? And why?" Blondie inquired.

Ashlynn frowned, "They say they're doing it so that we can't use our abilities to cheat, vandalize the school, and so that there is equality amongst the students basically. I can't stand this!"

"Madi, you're extremely calm for receiving such news," Ashlynn noticed.

Madi stood super still.

She looked over at Ashlynn with her face completely expressionless.

Then she sprang onto the couch and shouted, "NOOOOOO!!!! THEY ARE NOT GOING TO DO THIS TO MEEEEEEE!!!!"

"That's more of the response I was expecting," Ashlynn said as she walked over to Blondie.
"What are we going to do about this?" Blondie asked. "They can't just get away with this!"
"WE MUST FIGHT!!! We will be teen revolutionaries!" Madi yelled. "We need to fight for what we believe in, and lead a REBELLION!!!"
Ashlynn shook her head. "I'm not too sure about trying to change this rule with violence. I'm not even sure how to go about changing the rule at all, not to mention using this whole 'revolution and rebellion' thing to change things."

Raven smiled, humored. "Yeah, you certainly wouldn't know the first thing about changing a rule, much less knowing how to lead a rebellion. It's not all fun and games you know."

"That's why we need YOU, Raven!!" Ashlynn said with excitement.
"Oh, yeah! You would be perfect to lead us in this revolution!" Madi agreed. "You have that tough, prickly exterior, and you won't back down!"
"Um, does Raven have some kind of past that I don't know about?" Blondie said.

"Oh, right! You're still new to the group," Madi giggled sheepishly.
"Well, Raven has led school rebellions before. She helped us all find our own destiny and actually be able to live it, in spite of the school's authority," Ashlynn explained. "We all have roles to fill, what with being fairy tale character's children and all, and we couldn't just abandon our roles without there being some sort of long term consequence. But with Raven's help, we are now all able to be whoever we want to be, not what was pre-destined for us."
"Oh... OK! Then, yes, Raven should totally lead us into battle!" Blondie exclaimed.
"Will you please, Raven?" Ashlynn said, placing her hand on Raven's shoulder.
Madi copied Ashlynn's movements. "Yeah, Raven. We can't do this without you."

"You're kind of our only hope," Blondie said sadly.

Ashlynn and Madi stepped back from Raven to give her some space, but Madi put her hands together in a begging gesture.
Raven's forehead puckered in thought for a minute, she glanced at Blondie, then she walked over to her.

"I'm not going to let you down," Raven said strongly. "Any of you."

"I'll help you guys fight this ridiculous rule. They can't take away our magic. If they start there, who knows what they'll try next!" Raven stated. "This is where it begins, and this is where it will end."

"Oh, thank you so much, Raven!" Ashlynn's face spread into a big smile as she and Blondie wrapped Raven in a group hug.
"YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!!" Madi exclaimed in excitement as she spun around doing cartwheels.

"Team Rebellion and Revolution assemble!!!" Madi cheesily screamed as she jumped up onto the couch and struck her pose. The other three girls all shared an odd look, but then joined Madi in her pose.
"Let's do this thing!" Raven said.
